Explore Kampyr Tepe through the organisation of a town: its boundary, protection of the inner area and connections between rooms. This is more manageable than trying to learn all of ancient history in one stop. Separate your historical interest from the practical question of which areas are accessible on the day you visit.
The tourism portal describes a citadel, ditch, walls and rooms in the lower town. Start with a diagram and one viewpoint permitted for visitors. Work out what lies within the fortifications and how passages connect. Do not regard all exposed excavations as a single ancient floor: different areas may belong to different stages of the settlement’s history.

Afterwards, museum objects and their find locations can add a human scale to the walls. In intense heat, choose a shorter visit and leave another open site for the following day.
