Ulugh Beg and Abdulaziz Khan madrasahs face each other and reward a joint visit. More than two centuries separate them: they date to 1417 and 1652 respectively.
Compare before reading
Look at entrance proportions, the density of decoration and the use of colour. Describe the differences in your own words before consulting explanations. Two neighbouring buildings then become an accessible lesson in architectural change.
Separate façades from museum admission
Ask which rooms are open and which attraction each ticket covers. The museum tariff effective from 1 January 2025 lists UZS 20,000 for a foreign adult visiting the calligraphy museum in Ulugh Beg Madrasah. Confirm whether that dated price still applies before entering.
Connect them with the trading quarter
The pair fits naturally into a walk around the trading domes. Put shopping aside briefly so that the buildings receive your attention. Photograph details without blocking entrances or museum activity. Do not assume the two properties share a single admission ticket.
