Sitorai Mokhi Khosa offers another side of Bukhara: an emir’s country residence combining local and European decorative influences. Treat it as a separate outing rather than a quick detour from the Old Town.
Look beyond the façade
Notice room decoration, interior details and museum collections. Compare the experience with central madrasahs: domestic space and palace display matter here as much as exterior architecture. Follow the open-room route and ask about photography rules.
Arrange a return journey
With a taxi, confirm whether the driver waits, whether waiting is included and where to meet afterwards. Avoid putting the palace in your final hour before a train; both the visit and the journey can take longer than expected.
Check the dated tariff
The museum’s price list effective from 1 January 2025 gives foreign adult admission to the palace’s decorative arts museum as UZS 60,000. Confirm the current price, exhibitions included and any photography or guiding extras. A relaxed half-day with transport and lunch may work better than squeezing it between every central monument.
